Simultaneous airborne and surface decontamination and
disinfection systems
The significance of PDX's atomisation technology lies in its
capability to generate a very high number of extremely small
droplets at a very high flow rate: the size of the droplets is
between 2-5 microns in diameter and it is estimated that circa half
a trillion droplets are produced per second*. The resultant aerosol
is gas-like in behaviour, remains in suspension for far longer than
traditional fogs and ensures an even and consistent coverage which
provides effective decontamination of both airborne and surface
threat. Because of this super-efficient dispersion, comprehensive
coverage can be achieved using very little fluid. The atomisers are
compact and lightweight and can either be used to achieve whole
room filling or directional decontamination.
The Atomiser can be easily directed and controlled. Its
capability provides simultaneous (and consistent) surface and
airborne decontamination against chemical, biological and
radiological threats and hazards.
The facts:
Proven to rapidly fill large volume space
capability (~2000m3). 1 minute for 40m3 room (mach 3 delivery).
Proven consistent and even coverage. Ratio
between visible surface and non-visible surface deposition is the

Proven efficiencies. PDX atomiser uses
typically 3-5% of the agent required by existing chemical
decontamination systems.
Compatible with a wide range of off-the-shelf
chemistries.
Proven to be 17 times more effective than
conventional systems available. * (VBDC Comparison)

The flexibility of the Atomisation Technology means we can
offer a dual use delivery system that eliminates both chemical and
biological threats. The atomiser delivers both mist and CAF
allowing for decontamination and fire suppression in one unit. The
PDX atomisation technology is compatible with a wide range of off
the shelf chemistries.
Flexibility is something you're very likely to be looking for
when searching for your decontamination solution. PDX Atomisation
Technology can be deployed in a number of ways: man portable,
mobile and built in. Its designed with maximum flexibility in mind
and independent operation. This helps PDX meet your individual
requirements more closely than ever before.
Commercial Disinfection
PDX is working with their partners to develop products
integrating the atomisation technology to deploy a number of highly
effective chemistries. Due to the movement and fineness of the
mist, the decontaminant reaches and delivers a consistent even
coverage to all line and non line of site surface.
By comparison most fogging technology currently available uses
vaporization as a means of mist generation rather than atomisation.
Both thermal and electrostatic vaporization are slower and less
efficient in terms of chemical degradation and time. For
disinfecting a hospital room, rapid turnaround is key: the PDX
Atomiser requires only one minute filling a 40m³ room using little
more than 1 litre of water.
Because of the low volume of fluid used, sensitive and
electrical equipment can remain in-situ and stays
functional during process.
Nuclear site decommissioning
NDX Solutions, a JV between PDX and National Nuclear Laboratory
(NNL), has identified multiple unique applications for use in
nuclear decommissioning including complex decontamination solutions
for plants and equipments. NNL is a leader in the provision of
technology services to the nuclear industry.

Fire suppression
PDX's fire suppression technology protects interior structures
and buildings, regardless of a fire's location. In addition, PDX's
small droplet size means that fire suppression through PDX's
misting technology is much more effective: smaller droplets
increase the surface area which speeds evaporation and displacing
oxygen.
PDX has licensed its atomisation technology for fire
applications to Tyco, a world leader in fire suppression. Tyco's
Aquasonic product, "a revolution in Class B fire protection
technology" extinguishes fires using only one-third of the water
used by high-pressure water mist systems. The dense cloud of tiny
droplets generated also produces superior fire suppression as the
Atomiser fills a space rapidly, requires only one-third of the
water of high-pressure water mist systems, and offers protection
for an internal area regardless of the fire's location. Aquasonic
is certified by FM Global, a global provider of independent testing
and certification.
