Brewing, Food and Beverage

The brewing, food and beverage line-of-business is dedicated to delivering process and energy efficiencies to the food and beverage processing sector where major challenges exist to improve environmental and economic performance.

PDX technology enables large-scale producers to immediately reduce production costs and increase output while ensuring excellent product quality.

Mashing

The PDX mashing system offers brewers a compelling alternative technology to traditional mashing systems. Based on PDX reactor technology the patented PDX mashing system uses direct steam injection to heat and mix the mash. The efficient and effective transfer of heat eliminates formation of burn-on in the mash tun and mixes the mash to a uniform homogeneity unrivalled by current conventional mash agitation technology. The PDX mashing system converts standard boiler steam to food grade via the steam conditioning unit and the production of the beer by direct steam injection conforms to the German Purity Law (Deutsches Reinheitsgebot). The PDX mashing system can be easily incorporated into existing brewing plants with minimal disruption or implemented as part of a new build brewhouse.

Brewing - Wort Boiling

The PDX Wort Heater offers brewers the opportunity to deliver significant energy savings of up to 50% during the energy intensive wort boiling stage.  With a fast return on investment approximating 12-18 months (subject to brewery performance), this technology is a compelling economic and environmental solution compared to traditional wort processing equipment.  Furthermore flavour stability is improved and flavour consistency increased from one brew to the next; and in some breweries the technology can provide an increase in capacity without further capital expenditure.

Tank Disinfection

The PDX Atomisation technology ensures tanks and pipe work can be easily and cost effectively cleaned.  This technology saves on detergent costs, reduces water consumption and prevents product contamination.

Food - Liquid Food Processing

Innovative PDX Technologies are making major contributions to food processing.  Many food manufacturers with multi-plant sites around the world already employ PDX for consistent, cost effective processing and have seen a marked increase in throughput while making savings on raw ingredients costs.

Sauces, Ready Meals and Particulate Sauces

The PDX Sonic can be applied to the production and process of a range of food sauces; from ready meal sauces, béchamel, custards, scrambled egg to ice cream mixes and sauces with particulates such as sweet and sour.

The PDX enables multiple processing stages to be simplified; it is multi-functional and can heat, homogenise, emulsify, entrain and pump any liquid food with impressive performance.  Ingredient quantities such as starch, gums and spices, can be reduced (recipe dependent) while flavour profiles and product quality are matched, or enhanced where required.

Beverages, Soft Drinks and Sugar Dissolution

The PDX Sonic delivers an effective solution for the dispersion of gums, starches, flavourings and artificial sweetener's used in the production of soft and low calorie (diet) drinks.

Using the patented technology the PDX Sonic can effectively disperse hard to wet powders by simultaneously pumping, heating and hydrating the ingredients, eliminating the need to pre-mix.  Its super-efficient mixing capabilities mix and disperse powders evenly, resulting in faster processing times and reduced energy consumption, while achieving improvements in product consistency and quality.
